This frame, fork, rack and seatpost were commissioned by Grant Davis, a friend and VJ artist. He and I worked together to come up with a frame geometry that suited him and fulfilled his needs for an around town, coffee-grocery-utility bike.
The rack was made with sand-bending techniques, packing the tubes with sand, then using the torch to control the radius. The oak-wood slats salvaged from a furniture making studio. The signboard in the frame, intended to be painted with chalkboard paint, is salvaged redwood, found locally. The plan had been to match the black paint with the chalkboard paint until we both saw the beautiful color of the redwood and decided to leave it as is.
