An ongoing investigation into bicycles as a means of reliable and responsible transport, as self-expression and as a means of establishing space within an urban environment.
With this first class, I taught basic framebuilding techniques using steel, both lugged and lugless construction methods. Emphasis was placed on accuracy to achieve the design intent and attention to craft.

10-10-10 update: Just finished another one: a road bike, belt-drive singlespeed. I feel that this one is more indicative of my own transportation needs in an urban environment. A simple, grease-free drivetrain, one speed, robust tires and a striped, (and stripped) down look. This prototype will be getting the sweet-bejesus flogged out of it to test a few ideas and different approaches to joints.
